Epoxy Floor Coatings
Epoxy is a two-part coating that bonds to bare concrete and hardens into a tough, easy-to-clean surface. We grind the slab first so it has something to grip.

Running forklifts, carts or hot water across your floor? We build coating systems for shops, plants and commercial kitchens around the traffic, spills and cleaning they really see.

Hot tires peeling a coating is the garage failure we see most. We prep the slab right and lay a floor made for cars, oil and dropped tools.

What's polyaspartic? It's a coating that cures faster than standard epoxy, so your garage is usually back in use sooner. That suits a busy household.

We pour metallic epoxy with pigments that swirl into a deep, marbled look for basements, showrooms and rooms where the floor should be seen.

Urethane cement is the heavy-duty choice for commercial kitchens, food plants and wash-down areas, because it handles hot water, steam and harsh cleaners better than standard epoxy.

Polished concrete is your own slab, ground in finer and finer passes until it shines. There's no coating to wear off, which suits stores, offices and open basements.

Want color without a thick coating? We stain the concrete itself in earthy or bold tones, then seal it, for patios, basements and retail floors.

We install epoxy terrazzo by setting marble or glass chips in resin and grinding it smooth, for lobbies, entries and floors that need to look sharp for years.

A bare basement slab is dusty and hard to keep clean. We test it for moisture first, then pick a floor that suits what we find.

Grinding opens up the top of the slab and takes off old sealers, glue and weak concrete, so a new coating has clean, rough concrete to bond to.

We seal bare driveways, patios and garage floors with a clear sealer that slows oil and water soaking in and makes them easier to clean.

Worn, flaking or patched concrete doesn't always need tearing out. A thin cement overlay gives a sound slab a fresh surface with far less disruption.

When a floor dips, slopes or has uneven patches, we pour a self-leveling compound that flows out flat, ready for tile, vinyl, wood or a coating.

Pool decks take bare feet, pool chemicals and standing water. We resurface or coat worn decks with a textured finish that gives feet better grip.

Old epoxy, paint, tile glue or a failed sealer has to come off before anything new goes down. We strip it to sound concrete and clean up.

Meet the epoxy and concrete flooring contractor based in Lafayette
I ran an auto detailing shop before this and kept seeing garage floors that peeled and flaked, so I went looking for why. I learned the trade beside an experienced coatings installer and from the makers' install guides, and we still work slab first, finish second. Sterling Lafayette Epoxy Floors is licensed and fully insured.
We're based in Lafayette and work in West Lafayette, Frankfort, Monticello and other cities around it, on garages, basements and patios for homeowners and on shop, plant and kitchen floors for businesses. Call (765) 250-3629 or send us a message, and you can read more about how we got started.
Why people in Lafayette call us
We're best known for floors other people gave up on. That comes from asking why a slab failed before deciding what goes on it, and from telling you straight when waiting or a different system makes more sense.
Your slab checked before you get a price
We look at moisture, cracks and old sealers before we quote a floor, so your new finish goes onto a slab that's ready for it.
You deal with the owner throughout
I look at your floor and write your estimate myself, and I'm the one you talk to while our installers and I do the work.
Planned around your real traffic
A home garage with two cars and a shop floor with forklifts need different systems, so we ask what rolls, spills and gets washed across it before we choose.

Questions Lafayette homeowners ask
How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Lafayette, IN?
It depends on the size of the garage, how much repair and grinding the slab needs and which coating system you choose, so I price each floor after seeing it. Cracks, old coatings and moisture add prep, and a full color-chip floor with a clear topcoat usually costs more than a single color coat. The estimate at your property is free.
Do I have to pay for a permit for a floor coating in Lafayette?
You pay a permit fee only if your job needs a permit, and in Lafayette that fee is based on the project's square footage. Inside city limits, permits come from the City Engineer's Office, with a $200 minimum for residential projects and $250 for commercial ones. If a permit is needed, we take care of the paperwork with you.
How long does it take to put down an epoxy floor in Lafayette?
It depends mostly on how much prep the slab needs and how long the coating you choose takes to cure, and I'll go over timing with you once I've seen the floor. Crack repair, moisture problems and stripping an old coating all add time before the coating goes down. If a permit is needed, the city's review can take up to seven days for residential projects and ten business days for commercial ones, counted from when everything is submitted.
Is Sterling Lafayette Epoxy Floors licensed and insured?
Yes, we're licensed and fully insured for the work we do on your property. Bring it up when I come out for the estimate, and I'll answer anything you want to check before we start.
Do you have to grind concrete before an epoxy coating?
Usually yes, because epoxy needs clean, slightly rough concrete to grab onto, and diamond grinding is how we get it there. A coating rolled over smooth or sealed concrete has little to hold onto, which is a common reason garage floors peel. Our concrete grinding and surface prep page goes into more detail.
Do you guarantee your floor coating work?
Yes, our promise is satisfaction guaranteed on every job. That's also why I'd rather fix what's wrong with the slab first, or tell you to wait, than put a coating over a problem.
Is polyaspartic better than epoxy for a garage floor?
Not always, but for most home garages I like an epoxy base coat with a polyaspartic topcoat, because the epoxy builds bond and thickness on the ground slab and the polyaspartic top holds its color in sunlight. An all-polyaspartic floor sets up so fast it leaves little working time, and a shop that sees hot water and harsh cleaners may be better off with urethane cement. I'll tell you which fits once I've seen how you use the space.
Does it matter for permits if my house is outside Lafayette city limits?
Yes, because Lafayette issues permits only for properties inside city limits, with few exceptions, so an address outside them goes to another office, which can be a county office. The city's GIS maps show whether a property is inside city limits. Either way, we find out which office handles your address and check your job with them before we start.

Tell us about the floor you have in mind
Tell us what the space is, how you use it and what's going on with the concrete, and we'll reply within one business day. I'll come out to look, and the estimate is free with no obligation.
